About Us
The Escrick Park Estate in North Yorkshire has been privately owned by the Forbes Adam family for over 350 years. With a long history of stewardship, the Estate takes a holistic approach to sustainable development and change, ensuring it respects and enhances its communities, the environment and the local economy.
Whilst still involved in traditional estate activities such as farming, forestry and residential tenancies, the Estate has diversified over the years into providing commercial space for rural businesses to thrive, and has grown an acclaimed countryside holiday park, set within 30 acres of the Estate’s 250-acre woodland, for families to relax and enjoy nature.
The Estate is committed to protecting, maintaining and promoting the environment. In partnership with Natural England, it manages the 660-acre Skipwith National Nature Reserve. The reserve is also a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSI) and one of the last remaining areas of lowland heath in the North of England. Also, as part of the Woodmeadow Trust, it has been establishing a beautiful woodland for the community at Three Hagges Wood-Meadow at Escrick.
We hope this is the first in a national network of woodmeadows, providing important space for nature and wildlife and a place for outdoor learning.
As well as encouraging and supporting nature and biodiversity across the Estate we also understand the need to provide homes and space for people to live, work and relax which is why we are working on designing a masterplan for a sustainable community to meet the wider needs of our local population. Estates have historically built homes for local people, and many of the houses and buildings in Escrick’s Main Street were part of a model village, inspired by an earlier generation that began in the early 1800s.
At Heronby, we are committed to designing and delivering a sustainable settlement, true to tradition and fit for the 21st century. We hope you will join us in shaping a new North Yorkshire community we can all be proud of.
