Escrick Park Estate is bringing forward proposals for a new settlement – known as Heronby – in response to Selby District Council’s requirement for strategic housing sites to be allocated in its emerging Local Plan.

The site, most of which is owned by the Estate, is earmarked for homes, employment space, schools, community amenities and a wide network of green open space.

A consultation is being held at the Escrick and Deighton Club, on Main Street, Escrick, on Thursday, September 16 and Friday, September 17, 2021. The Estate is hoping to work with the local community to develop ideas for Heronby. The opinions gathered from the consultation event will be taken on-board by the project team for Heronby as more detailed proposals are drafted.

Both days will be ticketed (free) to allow for a steady flow of visitors and sufficient time and space to discuss the latest proposals.

You can book a slot to attend here

We will also be updating this website at the time of the event to reflect our latest proposals and to gather feedback.

The vision for Heronby is a carefully masterplanned new settlement, inspired by the character and function of traditional North Yorkshire communities, and fit for the 21st century.

Heronby will lie to the south west of the village of Escrick, midway between Selby and York, on a site owned by Escrick Park Estate. It will have its own market square with a high street, business space, new schools and a broad mix of homes to meet the needs of families, first time buyers and older people.

The proposal for Heronby is in response to Selby District Council’s requirement to allocate land for new homes in its emerging Local Plan which provides a template for future development up to 2040.

Escrick Park Estate, which has been owned and managed by the same family for over 350 years, is committed to ensuring Heronby is an enduring success. It is investing in the development of a masterplan for Heronby and inviting the community to share ideas as part of the design phase.
